June 16, 2012. Baltimore. The Green Party USA has announced the details of the party’s 2012 national nominating convention. The 4-day event will take place in Baltimore from July 12-15. Advance registration is now open and those needing assistance finding hotels or other accommodations can visit the Green Party website for more information.
Tickets to the Green Party national convention cost $125 per person and are transferable, but not refundable. Hosting the event is the University of Baltimore where the national meeting will take place in the John and Frances Angelos Law Center. Second floor classrooms at the university have also been reserved to house various workshops, committees and caucus meetings.
Currently, Dr. Jill Stein leads the Green Party’s field of prospective Presidential candidates. As of today, she has amassed 193 voting delegates. Stein’s closest challenger is actress and comedian Roseanne Barr with 81 delegates. Most recently, Jill Stein edged out Barr at the California Green Party convention, winning that state-wide primary 48-40 percent. Dr. Stein also added victories in South Carolina and Connecticut, joining her list of previously won primaries and caucuses.
The Green Party 2012 convention website lists a number of scheduled workshops. They include:

- Ballot Access Lawsuits
- Media Skills for Candidates
- Youth Outreach
- The Green New Deal: The European Perspective
- Your Local’s First Website
- Revisioning the Green Party of the United States
The list of planned workshops also includes such wide-ranging topics as the ‘Occupy Movement’, ‘Iran and the United States’ and ‘Statehood for the District of Columbia’. The nominating process itself is scheduled for Saturday evening while Sunday’s events are still TBD.
