Howard Stern may think the St. Louis arch sucks, but there were plenty of contestants at the city’s “America’s Got Talent” auditions that caught his eye.
The AGT St. Louis auditions aired Tuesday night, featuring the usual array of painfully awkward song and dance performances and a handful of dazzling legitimately talented acts.
An AGT hopeful by the name of “Little Ozzy” fell into the first category. The miniaturized version of the Prince of Darkness sang “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” the Ozzy hit dedicated to his wife Sharon–one of the judges on the panel. His feeble rendition got the buzzer from both Howie Mandel and Howard Stern. Sharon didn’t have the heart to “X” her own song, but gave Lil’ Ozzy a firm “No” when judging time came around.
Sharon Osbourne was also less than pleased by a group called “The Cut Throat Freak Show”. The gross-out circus performers stomped on broken glass with bare feet, swallowed swords and picked up furniture with hooks attached to their eye sockets for their audition. Osbourne was screaming in horror throughout the 90 second performance, but Howard Stern’s face was pure delight. Stern actually ripped Osbourne’s hands away from her face and made her watch the trio of self-proclaimed freaks until the performance was over.
Cut Throat Freak Show didn’t score Sharon’s vote, but both Howie and Howard passed them through to Vegas.
“I think you did something that’s been done a million times and made it new again,” Stern told the group. “It was captivating!”
Other performers scoring a ticket to Vegas included escape artist Spencer Horseman and child singer Isaac Brian Brown.
