Just yesterday the first photos for the most recent film adaption of the Broadway classic were released. Today the anticipation builds as the first trailer for “Les Misérables” is released.
View the trailer, currently in limited release, on the left or click here to see some your favorite characters fully brought to life. Unlike the 1998 version, starring Liam Neeson and Geoffrey Rush, this film will include singing and dancing, and the trailer gives you a hint of Anne Hathaway as Fantine, singing the classic song “I Dreamed a Dream.”
Hugh Jackman steps into the lead role of Jean Valjean, a reformed but escaped prisoner of early nineteenth century Paris, who must stay a step ahead of the ruthless Inspector Javert, played by Russell Crowe. Along the way, he aids the sickly Fantine, and ultimately brings up her daughter, Cosette (Amanda Seyfried), as his own under a new identity in spite of his precarious situation.
The film is directed by Tom Hooper and also starrs Eddie Redmayne as Marius, Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter as Thénardier and his Madame, and introducing Samantha Barks, who reprises her stage role on the big screen as Eponine.
“Les Misérables” will be coming to theaters just in time for the holiday season, on December 14, 2012, at some of the Best Baltimore theaters such as the Landmark Harbor East and the AMC in White Marsh.
