Pregnancy is such a miraculous event. You watch your body go through many changes and at the end of it all, you receive the gift of an innocent new being. However, also at the end of the pregnancy, you notice that your weight has escalated at least 30 pounds. Now it is time to get to work. Yet, getting the baby weight off is not always so easy.
We want the pounds to go away. We see the celebrities dropping their baby weight in two months or less and imagine ourselves doing the same. Too lose weight in that short amount of time usually takes some health risks. Fasting and constant, rigorous exercise is hard on a woman whose body just went through a trauma.
Pregnancy dramatically changes the body and after the pregnancy the body is still recovering. When we starve ourselves or work too hard while the body is still healing, we can cause damaging effects. The healing can take up to six weeks or more depending on the woman’s body and the pregnancy.
In January, singer Beyonce Knowles gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Five months later, Beyonce is lighting up the stage in tribal cutouts and glittery sequins. Is five months too soon to dance it up on the stage?
Again, it is about the woman’s body. Before pregnancy, Beyonce was a highly active woman dancing with every muscle in her body. This not only made her millions of dollars, however, it also gave her a strong physique and the muscle tone to bounce back after pregnancy.
This is also Beyonce’s first baby. On the average, women who deliver their first baby usually have their bodies back quicker than women who deliver their third child. So, mothers don’t feel bad if it takes you longer to drop the pounds than it does for someone else.
Losing the weight takes a lot of hard work. New mom Beyonce told the audience at the Revel Beach’s Ovation Hall, Memorial Day weekend, ‘Y’all have no idea how hard I worked! I had to lose 60 pounds. They had me on that treadmill. I ate lettuce!’
Walking is a good start to work towards your weight loss goal. Don’t strain yourself. You have to keep your energy and your health for that new bundle of joy you have just been blessed with!
Remember, it took nine months for you to gain the weight and it could take that same amount of time to drop it. What is most important is that you and the baby are healthy.
