Everyone has that friend that will only use top of the line, expensive products. Is it really worth it? Here are some of the best items to save or splurge on.
Day cream. Unless you have damaged skin or a skin condition like rosacea stick to moisturizers and creams from the drugstore. To save more product put a dot on your forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin, then gently rub it in.
Eye shadows. If you want to try a new color or a new trend and you aren’t sure if it’ll look good on your skin tone buy it at the drugstore. Otherwise splurge on your eye shadows. The pigments in the formulas for drugstores aren’t as strong and won’t adhere to lids or show the amount of color as well.
Lipstick and Lip Gloss. You can both save and splurge on these. If you are going to wear a lipstick every day splurge and get a color that has moisturizing elements in it as well. Save on lip gloss, as the color isn’t as important as the shine.
Foundation. Splurge on this item. The wrong color foundation can ruin the entire look of makeup and can make a person look washed out or too dark. Have a professional match you at the beauty counter and find the right formula for your skin. Some individuals might need heavy coverage while others only need sheer or lightweight.
Mascara. If you want a color that is out of the norm go to a department store. Otherwise stick to the drugstore; there isn’t much difference in the formulas between the expensive brands and the cheaper brands. It’s all about the brush. Don’t pump the tube while putting it on as it will allow air in and allow bacteria to build up. Replace mascara every three to four months.
Remember these tips next time you go shopping to save precious time and carefully earned money.
