Eyebrows tend to be greatly overlooked when it comes to including them into one’s beauty regime. However, eyebrows are a very important part of the face, helping frame it and direct attention to the eyes. Nonetheless, most people seem to only give their eyebrows a daily check in, making sure the brows are looking more like Audrey Hepburn and less like Groucho Marx. While this is a necessary step, assuming most of us would prefer for our eyebrows to not look like we just took a back comb to them, we are still selling the eyebrows short, thus selling the potential of our overall beauty regime short as well.
When approaching eyebrows, view them as the picture frame of the face, not the picture. Meaning, eyebrows should be groomed, tamed, as mentioned above, and an appropriate length for one’s face. You never want the eyebrows to be so overpowering that it looks like you’re sporting two mustaches above your eyes…never a good look. A helpful rule of thumb is to line up the inner eye with the start of the eyebrow. The end of the eyebrow should hit if you were to draw a diagonal line from the end of the brow down to the outer corner of the eye. Lastly, do not be afraid to let your eyebrows be noticed, dare I say bold! …We all know my view, “The bolder the better!” Do not be afraid to fill them in slightly, this can also help in creating more options to play with the shape as well.
The keys to creating a nice brow lie in three things: powdered eye shadow, a brow brush, and brow gel. First find a powdered eye shadow or eyebrow powder that matches your brow color. Take your brow brush, a small angled brush that you can find at any major beauty store or online, and apply the powder starting from the inside of the eyebrow working your way out. Do not apply too much color at first, allow room to build up your brow if you would like. Although, I will warn, you are in for a bit of a shock the first time you ever fill in your eyebrows, as it will definitely be a slightly different look from what you are used to seeing. Allow some time to get to know these new beauty creatures, and I promise you will begin to see new options for your beauty regime that you never even considered before. Lastly, apply brow gel to help settle in the powder and keep those hairs nice and tidy!
The eyebrows are a great resource when it comes to changing up one’s look, so do not be afraid to explore these endless options!!
