It is the official beginning of summer in the Boston area and New England, so time to finally get outside and go to your favorite beach or try a new one!
The Boston Globe Sunday Magazine recently had an article on the Best Beaches in New England. It is a good place to check out different types of beaches in the area. For quick escapes, they recommend Boston Harbor’s Spectacle Island which can be reached by ferry. There are also beaches for various recreational activities such as diving, surfing, kayaking and fishing or just walking, clam digging or collecting seashells.
There are many other options if you need to go by public transportation. You can get to Revere Beach by Blue Line subway, North and South Shore beaches by either subway or train and even Old Orchard Beach, Maine is a block or two away from the Amtrak Downeaster station for day trips. If you want to take buses, the options are unlimited in the New England area.
Time to do a bit of research, try out a new beach in the area, pack the sunscreen and enjoy the beautiful summer outdoors in New England! Until next time, happy travels!
