Weather summary: Monday was another in a series of days that produced a fair amount of sunshine but remained on the cool side. Temperatures once again struggled to get out of the 60s inland, however a few communities did reach into the lower 70s. Along the coast it was the same story as over this past weekend, with temperatures in the low to mid 60s for most. Some locations saw the mercury fall to around 60 by later in the afternoon as the onshore winds persisted off the Atlantic Ocean.
Weather synopsis: High pressure continues to dominate our weather for the next several days. Tuesday will be the transition day as we go from the cooler conditions of the last several days to more seasonal temperatures. The serious heat and humidity arrives Wednesday and Thursday when it will be downright sizzling. Temperatures reach into the low to mid 90s both days, with a few upper 90s possible on Thursday. Meanwhile, late night fog is likely to develop in some locations and burn off during the morning hours for both Tuesday and Wednesday. Generally fair skies prevail through Thursday night.
The record high temperature in Boston for Wednesday is 98 degrees and for Thursday 95. It is possible the record could be challenged in Boston on Thursday. Regardless of whether a record is broken or not it will be quite hot both days.
A cold front approaches the region later Thursday night and should slide through on Friday. This will bring a threat for showers and possibly a few thunderstorms on Friday. Although temperatures will not be as hot Friday the highs will still reach well into the 80s to perhaps 90 degrees in some locations.
Saturday looks to be a bit cooler and sunny, with the return of high pressure. It will also be much less humid and comfortable.
