While Cher has used her Twitter to annoy in recent days after reflecting on her personal political views, it seems she is also looking to inspire. One of the first entertainers who have pledged funds for the victims of the Colorado fires; she made an announcement on Friday that she will be sending cash.
“Am sending $ 2 Colorado 4 all of us. Had house there from when kids were little 2 grown ups! Being there brought me much JOY! Was SO Magical,” tweeted Cher from her official Twitter account. With 700,000 Twitter followers, the message was heard by fans who also want to help.
Billed as one of the biggest forest fires in the state, the Colorado fires have consumed hundreds of acres and over 300 homes were burnt. While the fire is still being fought, people from other parts of the country are looking to find ways to help the fire victims as most have vacationed in the Rocky Mountain region one time or another.
Anyone is welcome to join Cher’s efforts by donating to several organizations that are raising money for the community. Donations are taking online by the Salvation Army, Verizon Wireless users can text REDCROSS to 90999 to make $10 donations to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and the American Red Cross in the Pikes Peak area (Colorado Springs) is also accepting donations.
