Eastwood began his career way back in 1955 when he had an uncredited role in the film “Revenge of the Creature.” Little did people know, Eastwood would become one of the most well-known movie stars of all time. His career took a little while to take off. He had many small roles in movies and TV series in the 1950s with little recognition.
It was not until 1959 did Eastwood finally land a major role on the TV series “Rawhide.” Eastwood had the starring role of Rowdy Yates in the action adventure series. After “Rawhide,” Eastwood had roles in multiple films, the most well known in the 1960s being “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” in 1966.
In 1971, Eastwood hit cinematic gold when he had the starring role in the film “Dirty Harry” as Harry Callahan. The film launched the loose-cannon cop drama genre. Many lines from the movie are still repeated today, including the most famous line, “Do you feel lucky, punk?” The movie was so popular that there were four other “Dirty Harry” movies, including “Magnum Force,” “The Enforcer,” “Sudden Impact” and “The Dead Pool.” One of the most famous lines in movie history comes from “Sudden Impact,” when Eastwood states the line “Go ahead, make my day.”
Eastwood has starred in many other films over the years. Some of the most well-known include “The Outlaw Josey Wales,” “Thunderbolt and Lightfoot,” “High Plains Drifter,” “The Gauntlet,” “Every Which Way But Loose,” “Escape from Alcatraz,” “Any Which Way You Can,” “Firefox,” “Tightrope,” “Pale Rider,” “Heartbreak Ridge,” “Unforgiven,” “The Bridges of Madison County,” “In the Line of Fire,” “Absolute Power,” “Space Cowboys,” “Million Dollar Baby” and “Gran Torino.”
