The Nickelodeon Suites Resort in Orlando, Florida is proud to welcome the addition of Double Dare. The first game show of its kind, Double Dare is an original creation of Nickelodeon and one of the first past-paced, slime-centered and interactive game shows for kids.
Studio Nick at the Nick Hotel has recaptured the thrills and excitement of this one-of-a-kind TV show, allowing guests to be part of the act this summer. Studio Nick’s modernized Double Dare show combines the fun of the original TV show with new twists and turns via state-of-the-art technology and updated pop culture content.
The hotel’s Studio Nick is transformed into the Double Dare sound stage, which will be an updated version of the original Double Dare set. LED flat screens will display trivia related to the 25-year history of Double Dare to give guests the feeling of the original game show set. Eight players will be recruited from the audience to compete in physical challenges as part of either the Blue Team or the Red Team.
“We are thrilled to bring Double Dare to the Nick Hotel,” said Tony Aslanian, director of sales, marketing and revenue management for Nickelodeon Suites Resort. “The game show is just one more way we are creating experiences that are fun, interactive and memorable for the entire family here at the hotel.”
Hosted by Marc Summers, Double Dare aired on Nickelodeon from 1986 to 1993 and was one of the first games shows of its kind for kids. Participants were asked to answer trivia questions and perform stunts and messy physical challenges that often involved the network’s signature slime.
Double Dare originally taped at Universal Studios in Orlando and then moved to Nickelodeon Studios in 1990 when it became known as Family Double Dare. The show is credited with putting the Nickelodeon network on the map.
An interesting piece of pop culture trivia: Reebok was a major sponsor of the show and every contestant and stage crew member wore a pair of Reeboks.
Along with Double Dare, the Nick Hotel is welcoming a group of fun and friendly renegade reptiles, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, to its sunny central Florida location. For more information about the Nick Hotel, please visit NickHotel.com or call (877) NICK-KID.
