The gaming world is a buzz with the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) set to open June 4, 2012. E3 2011 certainly did not disappoint and this year’s looks like it’s going to be even more exciting. Nintendo plans to unveil its new console the Wii U, while Sony and Microsoft have kept tight lipped regarding whether or not they will be showing up with new hardware. Nintendo will bring with it a few new games to display all the Wii U has to offer.
Sony intends to plug its new handheld system, the PlayStation Vita. This is an interesting move for Sony. Every PlayStation 3 that gets sold is a loss for Sony monetarily. Launching a new home console would immediately halt sales of the PlayStation 3.
For whatever reason (perhaps Sony has come up empty-handed) they will not bring with them the highly speculated PlayStation 4. Hopefully at E3 Sony can bring up the sales of the PlayStation Vita by giving the audience more variety of games worth playing.
Microsoft has said that at E3 2012 it wants to focus on getting one more year out of the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 has surprisingly kept its sales well above projection in its seventh year. In fact the 360 has outsold every other TV-connected device.
It has sold more in its seventh year than in any other year! In spite of that, there are still rumors about the elusive Xbox 720. Microsoft has yet to give up much information about the Xbox 720, but consumers are still amped about it. Microsoft will likely stay focused on the 360 and fairly new Kinect system for this year.
Being that only one of the “Big 3” will be releasing a new console the main attraction of this year’s E3 is the new games. Below is a list of some of the games that have been confirmed for E3 2012:
- “Assassin’s Creed III” (360, PS3, PC, Wii U)
- “Hitman: Absolution” (360, PS3, PC)
