City of Peoria Father’s Day 4 Miler will begin and end at the Rio Vista Community Park on Sunday, June 17, 2012. All ages are welcome to participate and medals will be given out for each age category. Start time is 7:30 a.m. $20 for registrations before June 14; $25 day of event. 8866 W. National Wired Geek Dad Day is Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Arizona Science Center. ASC is honoring fathers and grandfathers in Phoenix on Father’s Day with free general admission all day. The first 200 people through the door will also get a sweet surprise. There will be special hands-on activities throughout the day for dads and their kids. 600 E. Take a Barbecue Basics Class at Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North on Saturday, June 16, 2012, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. In this class, dads learn the secrets of sauces, rubs and grilling techniques. They will enjoy cold beer from a local brewery and specialty cigars rolled on-site. Golf pros from Troon North golf club will offer golf tips. Executive Chef Mel Mecinas will demonstrate barbecue and grilling techniques. After the class, guests will feast on barbecue, homemade ice cream and whiskey floats. Everyone receives a recipe book, sample sauces and rubs, and a cigar to take home. Reservations are required. $75 per person.
