In the midst, of ‘as the wheel turns’ are the foster parents, who have in our lives a maze of people that we deal with on a daily basis all of which are intricately connected with this government wheel. Some unaware they are involved in money driven wheel; social workers, counselors, physical therapists, psychologists, doctors, Gals, CASA workers, Judges, all whose jobs it is to ensure that a foster child, life is ruled with an iron hand and under control.
- You will be dealing with professional like this on a daily basis. Oh, don’t let it scare you or intimidate you. We can assure you that is exactly precisely what all of it is designed to do, intimidate the lowly foster parents into doing what they are told, when they are told, to direct you to your corner to wait until you are told to speak.
Question; what is fostering all about? What is the role of a mentor, an advocate?
- Answer; We are to teach, equip, guide you to the educational resources in your continuous learning process. We have to stand up for our foster children because they cannot stand up for themselves. Their biological parents are essentially removed from their lives for whatever reasons; therefore, they need someone to stand up for them. The alternative is not acceptable to be lost within the maze that is “as the wheel turns’ misplaced within the system.
Question: if, for some reason, your biological children were removed from your life wouldn’t you need to know that there was a foster parent out there who you could count on that would fight for their rights, as well as yours. How hard would you fight for your children? Think it can’t happen, think again.
It happens thousands of times across this nation on a daily basis. There are 840,000 no one agrees on how many children are in the foster care system today, regardless of the number, where do you think these children came from? Homes just like yours.
Do you think all these parents were abusive or neglectful, or that all these homes were horrid? Think again. There are hundreds of cases right now where the biological parents made honest mistakes all parents make mistakes. Yours truly used to think the same way, until we started assisting biological parents and saw the reasons that they are had their children removed. There are hundreds of cases right now where the biological committed no wrongdoing at all,
Question; would you call homelessness, poverty, unemployment losing housing, or inability to provide medical insurance negligence?
