Registration for the Garden City Public Schools Summer Enrichment Program is now open.
This summer, due to construction, the entire program will be held at Stratford Avenue School. A variety of programs is offered for pre-K through high school.
You may choose to only one course per week or any combination over the four weeks. The Cluster Programs for the Pre-K, Kindergarten and First grades will remain the same, including science discoveries, physical fun, music exploration, and arts and crafts. 2nd through 5th graders have a range of courses including photography, theatre, computer, and cooking. Middle and high school students will once again have the option to take courses this summer. They may take one a day, or two a day for one week, two weeks, three weeks or all four weeks. Also, middle school and high school students may volunteer to be an aide in the program as in the past, or a combination of taking a course for one period and volunteering for the other.
A new special offering this summer is LEGO ROBOTICS. It is open to our fourth, fifth and sixth grade students. The course will run the entire morning for one week. There will be two levels – one as an introduction to robotics and a second as an advanced course. A description can be found later in this brochure.
The program is open to all Garden City School District residents from those entering kindergarten in the Fall of 2012 through the current eleventh grade. The program hours will be 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. each weekday from Tuesday, July 2nd to Friday, July 27th.
Please read all the attached information carefully and check with your schools as to whether your child or children may be invited to attend one of the other summer programs (Academic Intervention Service, Special Education Extended Year Program) offered by the district before you register, as there will be no refunds or credits given.
Please enclose a self-addressed envelope so that we may send you confirmation of your enrollment.
