“Glee” airs its highly anticipated two hour back-to-back episode event tomorrow, May 15th, in Flint on WSMH FOX66. Fan favorite “Glee” star Chris Colfer stopped by “Live! With Kelly” this morning, May 14th, to chat about his recent Tribeca Film Festival premiere of “Struck by Lightning” and his “Glee” character, Kurt Hummel’s impending graduation, and his relationship to an upcoming season 4 special guest star.
“Live” guest co-host Jimmy Kimmel asked Colfer to talk about his screenwriting debut with “Struck by Lightning” that recently premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April.
Colfer stars in the film as high school misfit Carson Phillips and he told the “Live” hosts, “I felt like it was like my wedding. I’m like this kid in this movie that’s premiering in New York about a kid who had aspirations to go to New York. It was so, so surreal.”
The film’s plot synopsis via IMDB states: “After being struck and killed by lightning, a young man recounts the way he blackmailed his fellow classmates into contributing to his literary magazine.”
Allison Janney stars in the film as Colfer’s mother and the cast list also includes 2 of Colfer’s former high school teachers. Film reviews are mixed and a theatrical release date has not yet been posted.
Ripa also asked about Kurt’s impending “Glee” graduation and whether or not he would remain on the show.
Colfer once again confirmed that he is staying with the series and never really said otherwise. Kimmel joked that he was the one who spread rumors Colfer was leaving.
While he couldn’t give specific details about Kurt’s post-graduation fate because it would “spoil the finale,” Colfer did confirm that he does indeed know the future plan for his character.
He also dished his excitement about an upcoming special guest star, and said, “I just found out last night that Sarah Jessica Parker is coming on our show to be my mentor of sorts.”
The audience cheered at this announcement and when pressed for further details about Kurt’s fate, Colfer said, “I can tell you he definitely does not-“ then he stopped himself, saying he was unable to reveal more.
Does not what? Does not stay in Ohio? Does not move to New York?
Emmy winner Sarah Jessica Parker is an interesting choice in a mentor role. We know Parker has a Broadway background and is a proud New Yorker ala “Sex and the City” fame. Could SJP, per chance, join the series as a NYADA instructor?
According to an Eonline report published today, Fox President Kevin Reilly confirmed that Parker is appearing in a “multi-episode” arc in season four.
Reilly also dished that the series is “poised for a real creative renaissance.” He continued, “Several characters are graduating, we’re going to have a show within a show, following some characters to New York to a school for the arts.”
Does this mean Kurt’s acceptance into NYADA is a shoe in? Are we going to watch Kurt move to New York and finally get the chance to pursue his Broadway dream for real?
What about Rachel (Lea Michele) and Finn (Cory Monteith)? Will they follow Kurt to pursue their own Big Apple ambitions?
As previously reported, the NYADA audition results will be revealed by the end of the current season.
Some Flint area “Glee” fans, like Kristie Rodgers, are excited about the thought of the show following Kurt (and hopefully Rachel) to New York. She said, “I can’t wait to watch Kurt take on New York. He’s destined to be a star. I hope he gets his chance and that Rachel follows him there too. It just wouldn’t seem right to not let them have each other to lean on.”
If Kurt moves to NYC, what does that mean for his relationship with Blaine (Darren Criss)? We know that Blaine is already struggling with the idea of Kurt moving away and leaving him behind. Will they withstand a long distance separation? Will Rachel, Finn and Kurt all be roomies somehow?
They showed a clip from tomorrow’s episode in which Sue (Jane Lynch) tells Kurt that if he wants New Directions to beat Vocal Adrenaline and win at Nationals, he needs to wear a flapper dress, which Kurt clearly resists doing in his reply.
“Glee Project” winner Alex Newell will sing in a dress as his character Wade performs at Nationals for Vocal Adrenaline (as he did with wild approval at Regionals.)
The clip doesn’t address any of the questions above. It does, however, make you wonder whether or not New Directions comes out on top at Nationals.
As always, so many questions, so few episodes to reveal some answers…
The “Glee” 2 hour back-to-back episode event airs tomorrow, May 15th, in Flint on WSMH FOX66 at 8 PM EST.
