Add another fashion “do” to Heidi Klum’s score card. This week the thirty-eight year old retired Victoria’s Secret model showed up for the Cannes Film Festival premiere of “The Paperboy” in a dazzling and revealing Marchesa gown that instantly upstaged nearly everyone else on the red carpet.
The gown was a metallic fringed evening look from Marchesa’s Spring 2012 collection. The gentle waves of thread offered peek-a-boo glimpses of Klum’s skin underneath- or at least the illusion of nudity. The gown was altered slightly from its runway incarnation, eliminating the long trails of fringe along the bust to give Heidi a move stream lined look. The backless gown showed off Heidi’s toned back and arms.
Klum styled the look with sleek hair pulled back into a low bun and kept her accessories very minimal. Much as it was styled on the Marchesa runway Klum chose to wear the look without a necklace and added stunning statement diamond earrings.
Since filing to divorce Seal, her husband of seven years, over the Easter holiday there’s been much speculation about Klum’s possible future romances. Heidi Klum disappointed the gossip columnists and arrived on the red carpet alone. It should not have come as too much of a surprise. All of her red carpet appearances, including her arrival at the Met Gala in a stunning see-through lace Escada gown, have been on her own.
That’s not to say that Klum has been home playing the sad divorcee though. Since the news of the divorce hit the headlines Klum has kept up her whirlwind schedule. She quickly announced the creation of an exclusive line of baby items for Babies R Us, presented at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, and was slimed, and then went on to accept an award of her own at the Fifi Awards for her first fragrance, “Shine.”
But the news of her awards have taken a backseat to her nude appearance in the pages of Allure magazine and to a racy music video she did with fashion photographer Rankin for Hunger TV. In Klum’s “Turn up the night” music video the mother of four is shown smoking a cigarette, getting tattooed, and pole dancing.
Heidi Klum is the very visible face of “Project Runway,” which just completed casting for its tenth season. Despite her absence from the spin-off series of last year Klum will return at the host, judge and executive producer for “Project Runway: Season Ten” along with her cast mates Michael Kors, Tim Gunn and Nina Garcia.
