Just the thought of all the housewives of New Jersey in the close proximity of 3 RV’s for 4 days is enough to make you want to run for the hills! How is it possible that considering the feud between Teresa and Jacqueline, they would still move forward with their plans to go “glamping” in California? (Glamping being the official term for the diamond clad, heel wearing housewives actually roughing it in the great outdoors.) Teresa came prepared in her blue “Aztec-y” heels intending to blend in with the tassel wearing, Aztec crowd of Napa Valley, CA. Surprisingly, Sunday’s episode blew viewers out of the water!! All parties seemed to be getting along and having…dare we say…fun?!
After an exhausting day of traveling for almost 24 hours due to rerouting caused by Hurricane Irene, the campers remained in good spirits and enjoyed a shopping spree at a local camping store where they picked up their RV’s. How great was it to watch Kathy ride through the isles of the store on an adult sized tricycle like she was out on the open road! Though a buzz kill and possible dig, they cut to Teresa saying Kathy looks like the wicked witch from The Wizard of OZ riding down the yellow brick road….Not sure if that is how it happens in the Judy Garland classic but always fun to hear her “Teresa-isms”.
Later, viewers waited with their breaths held as Teresa confronts Cousin Kathy in the RV about the comment’s she made at Teresa’s book signing indicating that Teresa was using Kathy’s mother’s recipes in her cook book. Teresa started with “There is something that has been bothering me…” What? Maybe therapy has really helped Teresa and her communication skills. Kathy calmly responds that she wasn’t trying to offend Teresa and didn’t intend for Teresa to take it that way. “I’m glad you talked about it and didn’t let it eat up at you,” said Kathy . At that was the end of it. No yelling, screaming or storming out? Are we on the right channel? This is not the RHONJ we have come to expect. Are they actually implementing effective conflict resolution skills using adult communication techniques? No, we must be in the wrong channel. Let’s check the TV guide and make sure we are not watching Couples Therapy.
Once Teresa and Melissa start their walk down the beach in their pj’s, viewers wait for the usual explosion that usually follows any interaction involving the strained sister-in-laws. Not surprisingly, Teresa seems a bit amped up and starts talking about her different issues with each of the ladies. Here it comes….Melissa stops and says to Teresa “You need to sit back and say, ‘What am I doing wrong? Why am I having an issue with everyone? Maybe it’s me? Maybe I’m doing something wrong?'”. Gasp and duck for cover!!! When viewers finally come out from hiding they realize that Teresa has accepted the constructive criticism and moves on with no nasty rebuttal. (Insert Jaw Drop here.)
Could things really be improving with the strained Gorgas and Gudices? We know that this is what everyone keeps saying they want but are they actually putting it into practice? One thing is for sure: viewers look forward to finding out next Sunday if the glamping bliss will continue signaling an actual truce or will the wars between Teresa and seemly everyone else flare up again? Hopefully all will continue smoothly as they continue their “Aztech-y” tour of the West.
