Albuquerque’s own Johnny Tapia was once known as the “Baby Faced Assassin.” At forty-five, TMZ is suggesting that Johnny Tapia might have died at the hand of drugs, the legal kind. However, authorities do not want to make a definitive statement until an autopsy has been completed.
According to the site, no illegal drugs were found in the home. However, a search did reveal that there were some prescription drugs in a safe. The site lists the drugs as hydrocodone, which is a pain med as well as a mental health drug known as Quetiapine.
The fact that the legal drugs were found in the safe does not necessarily mean that they were Tapia’s.
The site reports a Hydrocodone pill that was found by the body. Again, the authorities have not stated that Hydrocodone was the cause of death at this time, and whether Tapia had already taken a Hydrocodone pill prior to his death.
Prescription pills took out Heath Leger, Brittany Murphy and many others. I will reserve making any comments on possible legal scenarios until we have more information.
My heart goes out to the entire Tapia family.
