Darioush Winery Proprietors, Darioush and Shahpar Khaledi took part in “Friday Night in Napa Valley” a series of exclusive vintner hosted, Auction Napa Valley dinner parties. Gary Danko is a close friend to the Khaledi’s and was the featured chef at Darioush that night.
The 22,000 square foot property is an homage to the Khaledi’s Persian heritage and houses their private residence. With the gates closed to the public, the stillness and architecture, resembling Persia’s ancient capital lent to an otherworldly feel. On a tour, guests were privy to the wine cellar and Darioush’s personal collection. After being lead through a corridor of large wine barrels guests poured out into the sunlight. Oohing and awing was amplified as guests found themselves at the base of the Khaledi’s own amphitheater.
The menu’s French flair was nostalgic of Danko’s culinary influence and the influence of Bordeaux, the French wine region that inspired Darioush to evolve from wine collector to vintner. Dinner was served at a chef’s table atop the large tasting bar at the Darioush. The auction lot the Khaledi’s arranged helped in part to ring in a total of eight million dollars for Auction Napa Valley. In addition to 48 bottles of Napa Valley wine, the winning bidder and six of their guests will also get a taste of France alongside the Khaledis. While traveling to Paris, Bordeaux and New York the group will experience the people and places that helped shape Darioush.
Auction Napa Valley is one of the region’s top producing fundraising events. The donations benefit children’s health and wellbeing efforts in the area. To learn more about the organization click here.
