Spotted Paw and Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF), Illinois had a very big day today thanks to Macintosh (Mac) Zloza, the beloved yellow Labrador Retriever that was a very big part of the Zloza family. The Zloza’s, Cris and Mike, are the owners of Spotted Paw and for the past few months have offered Wheaton, Illinois not only their professional grooming services, but also pet products; opening their hearts and shop to ARF rescue animals all thanks to Mac, who passed away earlier this year. Mac loved all of the rescue animals and he was patient and kind to them.
Due to Mac’s love, the Zloza’s decided to invite ARF volunteers and rescues in to the Mac Adoption Event in order to honor their beloved doggie that they loved and still miss very much. The event was scheduled today from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and the hefty goal Mike established was to find 20 to 30 rescued animals their forever home.
Since ARF volunteers always want to make certain that pets are loved and cared for, they wanted to do everything possible to make Mike’s goal a reality! So as 9:00 a.m. approached and the crowds gathered, the foster parents of the dogs dropped them by Spotted Paw; some of the foster families were able to stay and help and others were happy to place their fosters in the care of ARF volunteers to care for them for the day and many of them then went to their new forever families. Mac would have been so proud!
Spotted Paw Shop, Limited is located at 74 Danada Square West, Wheaton, Illinois. Giving foster animals the opportunity to find their forever, loving home, has a two-fold benefit. First and foremost those animals get a family and second this allows even more animals the opportunity to be rescued.
This opportunity is witnessed primarily by Mike and Cris as they not only open up their shop, offer food and free grooming to the dogs of ARF, but they have also taken to fostering dogs and adopted Cuddles the (ARF) cat. In fact, this kind and generous couple don’t foster just one ARF pet, but up to a dozen at a time! Thus, when the occasion comes along to have many dogs placed with forever families, Mike and Cris bear witness.
Jessica Lorio, District Manager of Royal Canin was present for the event. She brought with her a stockpile of Big Macs from McDonalds in order to pay tribute to Mac. Visitors and volunteers were able to eat for free. The Chicago Wolves Hockey Team donated a pair of tickets which will be raffled off after the event and other Spotted Paw vendors were nice enough to donate treats which were readily distributed for free upon a pet being adopted.
The best thing is, by 6:30 p.m. 23 animals had been adopted! Yeah for everyone who made this day a complete success! Thanks Mac for your great inspiration!
