The investigation into the death of two-year-old Kailee Marie Parker revealed that the little child suffered abuse many times during her short life.
The autopsy indicated that Kailee died from multiple blunt traumatic injuries to the head. The autopsy also revealed old injuries from previous beatings that the little girl endured, possibly at the hands of the very ones who were supposed to protect and love her.
The child’s mother, Heather Brittany McKinney Parker, and her step-father, Eric Castro were arrested yesterday evening and both are charged with felony aggravated murder, felony murder, felony battery and felony cruelty to children.
The initial report stated that a family member was carrying the child to a neighbor’s house for help when a passerby stopped to assist and performed CPR. The family member that was carrying little Kailee was her step-father, Eric Castro. Castro told the passerby that he thought Kailee was having a seizure.
Kailee’s mother had left the home shortly before the 911 call was made, however, she did make a call to 911 while rescue was on the scene inquiring about the child.
The Floyd County of Department of Family and Children’s Services took custody of 8-month-old twins who were also living in the home. According to reports, the twins did not appear to be abused.
