Back for more action in this sequel the gang is headed to Thailand for Stu’s impending wedding. Determined to not repeat the last bachelor party and keep things calm this time, Stu is in for a surprise when once again things go haywire. This time the Wolfpack may just have gone too far.
Bradley Cooper (Phil), Ed Helms (Stu), Zach Galifianakis (Alan), Justin Bartha (Doug), Ken Jeong (Mr. Chow), Paul Giamatti (Kingsley), Mike Tyson (Himself), Jeffrey Tambor (Sid), Mason Lee (Teddy), Jamie Chung (Lauren).
The Hangover: Part II starts off pretty much as the last one did with the guys prepping for a trip to Thailand for Stu’s nuptials. Of course, when Alan is added to the mix things get funnier and before long, more dangerous. As the group tries to retrace their steps and figure out what happened it becomes obvious they have not only had another crazy adventure but may have topped the first one. Only the end of the film will tell us for sure.
Acting was decent enough and on par with the original film. Cooper was a bit more subtle this time around which was nice. Helms delivered his usual, as did Galifianakis and Bartha. Jeong was a ton of fun and laughs here while Giamatti was a bit hard to take as something of a gangster. Tyson and Tambor were other good additions rounding out the cast.
Camera work, sets, and backgrounds were all nicely done solid quality and attention to detail. Effects, physical and minimal CGI, were a good fit for the film and added depth. Dialogue was good and silly, just as you would expect from this sequel. Sound and soundtrack were both fairly well done.
Overall The Hangover: Part II is truly a sequel to the first film that does nothing more than supply a few twists to the original. The film is still funny, shocking at times, and more interesting than you would expect but, it is still a sequel that doesn’t add much to the original.
With plenty of foul language, sexual content, fairly graphic nudity, drug use, and explicit violence save this one for older teens and above.
The Hangover: Part II is no longer showing in any Littleton Colorado movie theatres.
