Doctor Bruce Banner has undergone some extreme changes after being exposed to a high dose of Gamma radiation and is now searching for a cure that will return him to normal. In this big screen adaptation of the popular comic-book and television series, Banner is hunted by the military, a rival known as the Abomination, and rediscovers love.
Edward Norton (Banner), Liv Tyler (Betty), Tim Roth (Blonsky), William Hurt (General), Tim Nelson (Sterns), Ty Burrell (Leonard), Christina Cabot (Sparr), Peter Mensah (Greller), Lou Ferrigno (Guard), Stan Lee (uncredited).
The Incredible Hulk begins with some backstory during the credits before moving to current day where Banner has already realized the changes he has undergone and is now on the run while attempting to find a cure. From there the film picks up pace as Banner is forced to come out of hiding, both as himself and The Hulk. Engaging with the military, and Abomination, the movie leaps to action moving along quickly to the requisite happy ending.
Acting was good with Norton doing a good job with a nice amount of energy and realism. Tyler was a good choice to play opposite Norton and the two did well together, as they both did with Hurt. Roth did nicely as antagonist and kept things interesting. The remainder of the supporting cast did a good job as well.
Camera work, sets, and backgrounds were all nicely done and exhibited good quality. Effects, physical but more so CGI, were nicely done considering the content and subject. Despite being comic-book based and obviously CGI, effects fit well and supported the film greatly. Dialogue was good if light, while sound and soundtrack were well done.
Overall The Incredible Hulk is a well done adaptation to be enjoyed by fans of the comic-book, the television series, and younger teens new to the story. Those wanting a reality based film will be disappointed with this one.
With plenty of action violence, mildly disturbing sci-fi images, and brief suggestive content this should be fine for teens and above.
The Incredible Hulk is no longer showing in any Littleton Colorado movie theatres.
