What does a young girl with a desire to work at a music label who can’t get a job in Los Angeles do? If you are Necole Bitchie you develop an international following sharing your personal life – living from couch to couch or not even knowing where you will be the next day, discard the music label aspirations and focus on creating an empire with words – words that impact over 375M on one social media alone. Necole Bitchie celebrated her celebrity – four years young – at her “Bitchie Night Out” at Café Entourage during the 2012 BET Awards Weekend. Guests enjoyed specialty X-Rated Fusion Cocktails such as “Born Bitchie”, “Bitchie Night Out” and “Bitchie’s Bubbly” while enjoying music by DJ Dom Dior. A host of talent and influencers came out to celebrate with Necole such as Melody Thorton, Jermaine Dupri and his new artist Leah Labelle, Teairra Mari, Terrence J, Young Money’s Shanell, Hazel-E, Diddy Dirty Money’s Kaleena, Bridget Kelly, and Basketball Wives LA cast, Draya, Laura Govan, Gloria Govan, and Malaysia Pargo.
The crowd was hip, young, vibrant and all had style and swagger. In the midst of it all was what appeared to be a humble, yet brilliant mind contained in a size 0 designed dress by her friend and designer, GeeBin. Necole, also known as Necole Kane, sat down with me to discuss how this came about and how to this day she never imagined her words would create this level of impact. As an influencer and celebrity herself (recently recognized with a Soul Train Award) she dishes on celebrities and creates influential content that brings others to success. One of her followers (@therealscribe) asked if she would ever post reviews on music. She has a music editor (firstname.lastname@example.org) who handles that responsibility and has assisted in getting an artist signed to Jive Records because of what the record label saw on the website.
Aside from her cult like following, and genuine personality she enjoys looking good. Last night was no exception – from her fly hair, to her 70’s throwback earrings to her color block dress and dynamic salmon colored shoes.
While Necole Bitchie, the blog is amassing celebrity status, the woman behind the blog is filled with a huge responsibility and daunting burden. She feels that she is caught between giving her readers what they want (the dish/scoop/dirty details) and creating a positive impact in the world and attempts to balance the dirt with positive shows like Scandal, and Tia and Tamara. She aims for her legacy (who thinks legacy at her ripe young age?) to be one of positive images and is looking to develop online exclusive content for the Bitchie brand. She just moved back to New York to focus on this responsibility while working on her empire.
What makes her different than any other girl or boy who wants a job and can’t fine one? Many have tried to create blogs, write articles, and create a living from a passion. Necole says that what made the difference for her and created her success was her consistency, ambition and advice to herself – don’t ever give up. It is a positive message for all who follow her.
One of the guests and supporters, China from the reality television show We Hair, said she loves Necole. To her Necole Bitchie does not focus on the negative and is the goto for the truth/the real. And with celebrity-like status Necole Bitchie does not disappoint.
