Richard Miniter, two-time New York Times best selling author, has just released his new book “Leading from Behind: The Reluctant President and the Advisors Who Decide For Him”.
In a report published by the conservative-leaning The Daily Caller:
“Richard Miniter writes that Obama canceled the ‘kill’ mission in January 2011, again in February, and a third time in March.
Obama’s close adviser Valerie Jarrett persuaded him to hold off each time, according to the book.”
Much akin to the infamous “Deep Throat” of the Watergate conspiracy fame, Miniter bases that particular accusation on information leaked to him from “an unnamed source with Joint Special Operations Command who had direct knowledge of the operation and its planning.”
And it doesn’t end there…
Miniter also cites that directly after the successful raid, Obama administration officials stated that the president ordered a delay, which would have been his “fourth moment of indecision.”
White House spokesmen lay the blame on the delay on “unfavorable weather conditions near bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan.”
Yet the author cites he obtained the weather reports from the U.S. Air Force Combat Meteorological Center, showing that the weather conditions were “ideal” for the US Navy SEALs Kill or Capture mission.
According to Miniter, each of the three previous hits on bin Laden was scratched by Obama due to the urging of Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett.
Jarrett cut her political teeth starting in the 1980s in various Democratic Administrations.
Some have stated she wields an unusually large amount of influence and power within the administration.
As one of three senior advisors to Obama, Jarrett holds the following titles:
- Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Engagement.
- Managing the White House Office of Public Engagement.
- Office of Intergovernmental Affairs.
- Office of Urban Affairs.
- Chairs the White House Council on Women and Girls.
- White House Office of Olympic, Paralympic, and Youth Sport.
