When the Viticulture Galleria at David Girard Vineyards opens on July 1, it will provide a 6800 square foot venue for business gatherings, social events and weddings as well as the performing arts. The public is invited to the Grand Opening between noon and 4 p.m.
Girard already hosts a summer concert series, held under the stars in the vineyard. With the addition of the Galleria, concerts can go on all year round and bad weather will no longer be an issue for ticket holders. With a longer season available, the vineyard can offer more events and a broader variety of them. The Sierra Symphony has already scheduled a performance for December 1.
Visual arts get support from the vineyard as well, as it hosts an annual charity art auction. The works of several local artists hang within the tasting room as part of its welcoming décor.
The new building echoes the classic European lines of the existing tasting room facility. It stands on a hill overlooking the vineyards, with a spectacular view of the surrounding foothills. The site, formerly occupied by the big white events tent, catches the attention of visitors as they enter the vineyard. The road to the tasting room winds past the new building, providing several perspectives.
Within the building, visitors will find 4500 square feet of event space. Other parts of the building include a bride’s dressing room, a groom’s dressing room and generous restroom facilities, as well as kitchen facilities. Girard reports that he’s been told that next to the Fairgrounds, the Galleria is the largest open floor plan building in El Dorado County.
David Girard Vineyards offer a family friendly environment, now enhanced by a modern event center in the Viticulture Galleria. Can’t make it for the opening? Plan to attend the free Bastille Day – French Market Festival on July 14th, which will feature plein air artists in the vineyard along with the array of food and beverage choices.
