The 2012 prom season in the Low country has officially concluded. With the added stresses of controversies surrounding same sex prom dates and dress code enforcements, parents are relieved it’s over. Mothers are often the most active participant in getting their seniors off to prom. After surviving the anticipation and hustle bustle of activities surrounding this traditional event, moms often collapse into a recliner and drift into nostalgic bliss while recalling the excitement or horrors of their own proms.
Savannah recognizes the powerful effects on parents seeing their daughters and sons off to this exciting coming of age ceremony. Since May 19, 2012, Savannah Morning News has been asking residents within 60 miles to dig out and submit their old school prom pictures. So far only six contestants have entered and the deadline for entries and voting is June 11, 2012!
The grand prize is dinner and a movie and three runner-ups will win gift cards to McDonough’s Restaurant & Lounge. You could be a luck winner so enter your photos now!
