On June 28, 2012, four out of the five members of “X Factor” U.K. boy band One Direction visited Universal Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida, which is the home of the amusement parks Universal Studios Orlando and Universal Islands of Adventures. Meanwhile, One Direction’s Niall Horan says that September 2012 will probably be the month that the first single from One Direction’s second album will be released.
According to Reuters, One Direction was invited to the theme park to experience the new attraction Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, which will officially open to the public on July 2, 2012. One Direction’s Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson made the trip, but One Direction’s Harry Styles was not there.
Horan tweeted: “Had the best day @UORNews with everyone @ollyofficial came too! Bought soo many bobble heads haha! #UniversalOrlando ! Sick day!”
Olly Murs, who is an opening act on One Direction’s first headlining tour of North America, was also at Universal Orlando, and he tweeted: “Fun times at UNIVERSAL STUDIOS with @Real_Liam_Payne @Louis_Tomlinson @zaynmalik & @NiallOfficial today its all about the bobble heads lads!”
As previously reported, Styles, Horan and Tomlinson visited amusement park Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California, on June 15, 2012.
One Direction’s first headlining tour of North America ends on July 1, 2012. The tour, like all of One Direction’s headlining tours in 2012, sold out within minutes. One Direction came in third place on “The X Factor” U.K. in 2010. The group’s debut album, “Up All Night,” has been a No. 1 hit in several countries.
As for the group’s currently untitled second album, a One Direction spokesperson told me that there is no release date yet, but it should be released before the end of 2012 on a date to be announced. The spokesperson said that the album’s first single is also to be announced, and the spokesperson denied a false rumor that the song is called “Heartbreakers” or “Heartbreaker.”
Horan commented to MTV about One Direction’s second album: “When we came back from Australia, we had a couple of weeks off and then we went straight into the studio to get cracking on the next album. We wrote an absolutely cracking song that we’re all kind of very excited about. We’ve got to make a decision for a single soon, because we have to get a single out towards September … We want to have the most control that we possibly can of everything that we do.”
