Khuong Anh Nguyen, 35 was sentenced to 90 days in jail and three-years probation in Garden Grove, Calif. on Monday after pleading guilty to misdemeanor animal cruelty causing the deaths of six newborn rabbits.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office dismissed seven counts of felony animal cruelty. As part of the plea deal Nguyen will no longer be permitted to own pets.
Nguyen also pleaded guilty to tying up a female bulldog’s front legs with rubber bands which cut into the dog’s skin stopping her circulation.
The baby rabbits were discovered drowned in urine and rainwater last December 14 in Nguyen’s backyard as well as four other bulldogs who were living in filth. The Garden Grove Police investigated.
All of the animals including an adult rabbit were removed from the home. The bulldog has since been rehabilitated by Orange County Animal Care.
