Calabogie Highlands Golf Resort continues to be a hot spot for Ottawa-area golfers who are planning quick and comfortable summer road trips.
The full-service facility tees up the fun with a remarkable 18-hole championship track and challenging nine-hole executive layout. The first-class accommodations are situated near tranquil Calabogie Lake and the entire property presents guests with stress busting views.
The Island Course and Mountain Course, the two nines making up the main 18, consist mostly of doglegs. They also present players with several blind tee shots since elevation changes both major and minor are huge club-selection factors.
The inside executive track, a smaller version of the longer layout, is called the Lakeview Course.
The main 18 offers three sets of tee-boxes, plays to par 72 and measures from 5,471 yards to 6,776 yards. The Lakeview Course is ideal for a quick game as it’s a par 36, running out to 5,202 yards.
Steve Hall, who came in this year as the new head professional and pro shop manager, says Calabogie Highlands Golf Resort is a must-play vacation destination because of the peaceful surroundings and consistently great course conditions.
Hall adds that the signature No. 3 hole on the Island Course has been upgraded.
“It’s been re-sodded, the pond was cleared, the cart path was reconfigured and trees have been cleared out to make No. 3 look even better with Calabogie Lake in the background,” said Hall.
Golfers can turn to Hall and lean on his expertise when it’s time for a tune-up or when folks want to take up the game.
The member of the PGA provides a full-lesson package at the practice range and green that includes video. He will also pass along pointers to players during on-course instruction sessions on the Lakeview Course.
When golfers are done swinging the clubs, they can relax at the turn-of-the-century clubhouse. It’s a place where players can soothe their senses thanks to the dynamic vistas of the water, hills and valleys from the patio.
Reservations assistant Susan Latendresse says the stay-and-play packages have been designed to fit all budgets and the villas can be configured to easily accommodate one person or groups of up to six people.
