You’ve got to hand it to Papa Roach. The band is almost two decades into their career, but it was clear from the moment they hit the stage at Piere’s on Thursday that they were there to give the fans there all they had. Filling the room with a surplus of manic energy, the northern California-based quartet burned through a panoply of their songs, ranging from well-known hits like “Last Resort” and “Scars” to some lesser-known album material. Aside from the group’s apparent enthusiasm, what really stands out seeing them live is just how tight their rhythm section is.
Tourmates In This Moment, a unique metalcore group also from California, delivered a bit of menace in their set through their songs and a bit of stagecraft. They also introduced attendees to some material from their forthcoming LP “Blood,” set to be released in August.
Peoria, Ill.’s Mindset Evolution opened the show.
