A plot to kill a classmate was behind 16-year-old Skylar Neese’s death. Residents of in West Virginia are in complete shock over emerging details surrounding the girl’s brutal slaying.
Neese went missing July 6, 2012 and her remains were found several months ago in January, Inquisitr reports May 25. Many thought something bad happened to her since she it wasn’t suspected she ran away from home. It turned out their worst suspicions were right — something terrible happened to Skylar Neese.
A transcript just released from a plea hearing reveals that a friend of Neese’s — Rachel Shoaf, 16 — confessed that she and another girl plotted to kill their fellow classmate. Shoaf opened up to law enforcement Jan. 3 by telling them where Neese’s body was. They located it in Wayne Township, Pa. — 40 miles from her parents’ home in Star City, W. Va.. The girl’s remains were officially confirmed in March by investigators.
According to the report, Shoaf and another friend agreed to lure Neese out of her apartment late at night, stab her, then dispose of her body covered with branches in another state. Neese left late at night and got into a car with the girls. They apparently pretended to socialize with her before brutally turning on her. Shoaf and her friend left Neese’s body under some branches.
It was also noted that Shoaf comforted Neese’s mother during the search for her daughter. She also participated in the search effort.
Shoaf has plead guilty to second-degree murder in her plot to kill a classmate with an accomplice.
No motive for the grisly slaying has been revealed. Shoaf faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted, but it’s predicted she’ll get 40 years under the law.
