What is the meaning of life? What is the purpose of life? As a Christian I was lead to seek God on “Finding My Purpose” but it never occurred to me that the “meaning of life” or the “purpose of life” is a question some believers and nonbelievers alike might share.
However, I do not believe I’ve ever questioned what the “meaning of life” or “purpose of life” was. I would have to say that life and living for me was always a blessing, a gift and something given from God. I had confidence that I belonged here in this earth realm and that my belief in God assured that I had a future and a place to look forward to when I died. So I never questioned, Why I was here? Instead, life for me was a way for me to express this blessing and gift from God and therefore glorify God. There is a verse “Let everything have breathe praise the Lord.” Psalms 150:6 This verse outlines that God wants everything with breath or everything that lives to praise him, or glorify Him. I believe that God created us for the very purpose of glorifying Him. So if the meaning of life and the purpose of life is to “Glorify God” than I guess the next question that follows is: How do I glorify God in my life? Further more,What is the purpose of my life?
Have you felt stuck in discovering your purpose? I believe that when you discover your purpose you can use that to glorify God. So let’s discover your purpose.
Think over your life and try to remember the five times in your life you’ve felt the most successful. This doesn’t have to include making money; you could have been volunteering or simply talking with another person. After you’ve thought of them write them down. After you’ve wrote them down look over them and see if any of the five successful times in your life connect or resemble each other. Whatever connections you see may point to your purpose. In addition, how did you used to play when you were a kid? What did you like to do? Did you draw all day, invent things, dance or play an instrument? This may also connect to your purpose. After you’ve found your purpose do it.
You’ll find that the more you are practicing and doing your purpose the more people you will reach and the more you will glorify God. You will find success. Because there are certain God-given talents that Jesus has blessed us with; once we discover them we can use them to magnify God and make a difference in the world. Now, don’t forget God once you are growing in your talents, use them to inspire others so they too can seek God and find their purpose.
