Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort is one of the most complete, award-winning resorts in the country encompassing some 2,400 acres with charming neighborhoods nestled in the Northwest Florida area on both the Intercoastal Waterway and the Gulf of Mexico. Sandestin is chocked full of assorted accommodations (condominiums, villas, town homes, and hotels), as well as shopping, tennis, golf, and lots of water recreation. One drive through the resort is all it takes to see the majesty captured here among South Walton beach communities.
The Grand Sandestin, is the resort’s crown jewel – a condominium hotel with spectacular views, a beautiful lobby, and convenient on-site check-in. Aside from the splendor it adds to the Sandestin topography, it is an absolutely gorgeous facility with fully-furnished, spacious units and tons of amenities. The exterior brags of Southern-inspired architecture which is evident in the plantation style, two-story veranda and lush landscaping throughout the grounds. The use of fountains creates a restful, peaceful pool experience…what a place to relax!
The Grand Sandestin is only steps away from the Village of Baytowne Wharf, a carefully blended array of boutique shops, fine and casual dining venues, entertainment, and activities (rock climbing wall and zipline just to name a few). Grab your morning java (they have a Starbucks!) and meander through the village…you never know what’s going to be on the day’s agenda!
There is a 98-slip marina within walking distance and it is home to the Tuesday evening luaus, weather permitting, throughout the summer. It’s also a nice place to end the day watching the sun set.
Other resort amenities include: four championship golf courses, 15 tennis courts, 19 swimming pools, children’s programs, a fitness center, spa, 65,000 square feet of meeting space, kayaks, canoes, and boogie boards. Rent a bicycle to travel easier within the resort. And, of course, the most popular amenity – over seven miles of sugar-white sandy beaches!
Closeby Food and Fun
The Destin area is known for good, high-quality seafood and a local favorite is AJ’s Seafood and Oyster Bar right on the Destin harbor. The food is fresh and palette-pleasing with awesome oysters and a super steamer bucket overflowing with Alaskan snow crab legs, king crab legs, shrimp, mussels, clams…all steamed and seasoned with new potatoes and corn on the cob! Above the dining area is a top 100 ranked night club featuring live music with favorite local bands. Enjoy AJ’s for lunch or dinner and, also keep in mind, you can take a sunset cruise on AJ’s Blackbeard sailboat. Check out their web site for all the offerings and complete menus!
Another off-the-beaten path eatery located in nearby WaterColor on Highway 30A, is Wine World, great for intimate lunches or dinners. With a huge selection of wines, this funky little restaurant offers wonderful salads, cheese plates, seafood selections, and other entrees. The atmosphere is calm and soothing with tables inside or outside.
