Cumberland County Animal Shelter located in Crossville, TN, just two hours east of Nashville, is in desperate need of assistance with placing cats and dogs from their overcrowded shelter. If all of their urgent dogs are not placed by next week, they will all have to be euthanized.
The shelter is located at 782 East Lane Road in Crossville, TN. The adoption fee is $60 for dogs and there is no pull fee for local rescue groups.
Rescues wanting to pull dogs or cats can email firstname.lastname@example.org or call Jennifer at (931) 261-7045. Adopters can email email@example.com or call the shelter at (931) 484-8525. All of these dogs must be placed by next week or they will be euthanized.
Lola is a beautiful Boxer mix girl who was adopted from the Crossville shelter as a young puppy. Her owner seemed trustworthy at the time, but apparently went through some life changes and began tying her up outside. When that became too much trouble, he dumped her in the exercise yard at the shelter. Two weeks later he finally called the shelter and let them know who Lola was. She loves playing and hanging out with other dogs, but has developed some minor special needs as an adult after everything she has been through. Lola is protective of her food and needs to be kept in a yard with a tall wooden fence because she is able to climb a wire or chain-link fence. She has been climbing the sides of her pen at the shelter to go “visiting” her neighbors, which is why she has to be kept in a wire crate now.
Betsy is a one year old female Mountain Cur mix who weighs just 35 lbs. This sweetheart loves everyone and is very submissive. Currently the “lobby dog” of the shelter, Betsy loves to give hugs and curl up against visitors. She comes with some Doxycycline to treat a non-contagious tick-borne illness that she is being treated for, thanks to a generous sponsor.
Dutchess is an 11 month old female Australian Shepherd mix with gorgeous ice blue eyes. She weighs just 35 lbs and enjoys playing and cuddling with other dogs. Dutchess is very skittish and scared of people, but slowly learning to trust. She needs a patient person and other dogs for company.
Goober is an exuberantly affectionate 5 year old black Labrador male who weighs at least 70 lbs. This big lover boy needs a rescue or new home that is willing to work on some basic obedience training to help him become the loved family member that he deserves to be.
Harry is a one year old black and white male Boston Terrier mix, weighing just 35 lbs. This cutie is super submissive, enjoys the company of other dogs, and loves attention without demanding it. Harry has some slight hair loss which probably indicates a minor skin condition that can be easily treated. But in an overcrowded shelter, even a minor health problem can put a dog on the top of the euthanasia list.
Shasta is a beautiful one year old terrier mix, weighing just 25 lbs. He loves to play with other dogs and is friendly to everyone he meets. Shasta’s special need is that he is an escape artist, so he has to be kept in a wire kennel at the shelter.
Victoria is a stunning Golden Retriever mix, 2 years old, weighing about 60 lbs. She is very friendly and loving and gets along great with smaller dogs. Victoria does get nippy with dogs who are her size or larger.
Cumberland County Animal Shelter is also overwhelmed with cats of all kinds, mother cats and their kittens. Please call the shelter for more information. See their website for more available dogs. If you cannot foster or adopt any of their dogs, please forward this information to anyone else in the area who might be able to help.
