The Sims have solved one of Prince Harry’s problems in their Diamond Jubilee spoof video. In Katie Couric’s “Diamond Jubilee Queen” on May 29, Prince Harry said that he really wanted kids but couldn’t find anyone willing to share his life. The creators of video game “The Sims 3” have found a “girlfriend” for him in their champagne-swilling spoof for the Diamond Jubilee—but it’s not Pippa Middleton.
In the “Sims 3” Jubilee video, a regular family has a picnic in the park to celebrate this weekend’s special events…then it cuts to views of more hardcore partying. There’s a message of how the “world will come together” to celebrate one of the most beloved women on Earth…and a picture of an unfortuately hook-nosed Queen. (Story continues below.)
At that point the Jubilee parody gets wild: The Sims Pippa Middeton, wearing a bridesmaid’s dress, starts to twirl and flirt before the paparazzi. Her dress mysteriously acquires a deeper cleavage. Prince Harry, meanwhile, is shirtless and in Union Jack shorts, looking every bit as smooth a Ken doll—aside from his wild red hair. He pops a champagne cork at his partying girlfriends and smooches one of them.
The one-minute video ends with the message, “’Congratulations Queen Elizabeth II on your Diamond Jubilee from all your loyal Sims.” According to “Metro UK,” Bolu Akindoyin, senior product manager for “The Sims 3,” says the video is just one of a series that highlights the humor in the life-building game while also giving a nod to special events like the Diamond Jubilee.
