How many times I’ve heard people say that Snow City Café is the best place in town to go for breakfast or brunch. So many times I’ve passed by it and never stopped. Finally this past Saturday I made a point to go there for breakfast.
Arriving mid-morning expecting to get right in, this was not the case. There was a 35 minute wait and it was a full 35 minutes before I got to sit down. Thankfully, the weather was nice and not too cold. Taking in the scenery of the inside of the cafe, the atmosphere is quite busy with gifts, pictures, posters, artwork, string lights and much more, all of it a great way to kill time while waiting.
Finally, the buzzer goes off and I am able to sit down for a meal. Browsing the menu wasn’t as difficult as I might have guessed would be. One menu carries the breakfast and lunch items and it’s a small tri-fold. Grateful for this triumph with the menu, I am able to quickly choose my meal and settle in. One of the best things about their menu…most items can be ordered gluten free. Win for those intolerant (myself included!)
My choice: A heart attack on a plate. They certainly hit the nail on the head with that one. Hashbrowns, bacon, onion, cheese all piled together with two eggs cooked over easy laid meticulously on top. Delicious!
During the winter, Snow City Café is a local hang out that captivates the artistic community. As the summer months roll around, tourist season begins and so does the long wait. If you have any desire to try the heart attack on a plate or any other great dish, don’t go starving. You are likely to wait.
