For those fans out there that were lucky enough to see Marvel’s The Avengers yesterday, then you know how INCREDIBLE the movie is!
First of all, the “set up” wasn’t all that bad, considering most super hero movies have to set up the story for ONE super hero. Well in the Avengers, you get to watch each character while the story moves along toward becoming the team for S.H.I.E.L.D.’s “Avengers Initiative”.
Every character gets their shining moment(s), and there are definitely plenty of laughs from Tony Stark (Iron Man) and the others. The Hulk gets a cool “secret” twist that I won’t spoil here, but man was that 10 second action sequence JUST PLAIN AWESOME!!!
A key character becomes a sad casualty which helps bring our heros back down to Earth and with the help of Nick Fury, pushes them to become the ultimate team fighting against evil. The alien race destroying the city is pretty cool too, especially the building sized flying dragons. But they are no match for our heros.
Without giving away too much information, I’d say the Avengers was a funny, action packed, well written, carefully crafted (CGI), and fluid cinematic interpretation of one of the best superhero teams to ever grace the pages of a comic book.
I saw it in IMAX 3D, but there is no need, just watch it in IMAX without the 3D and you will experience the greatness all the same. Oh, and make sure you stay until the end credits, you will get special appearance by a Master of Death!
