Where to park
For a big event, like the Stars & Stripes Explosion, it might be smart to park further away and walk, in order to have less trouble with parking and leaving at the end of the night. It’s usually wise to use the alternate routes to-and-from the Oceanfront and to plan on a long wait when leaving a parking garage.
The City has seven parking garages, metered parking, residential parking passes, as well as parking for people with disabilities. All City residents can park at any lot or garage for $2.00 after 5:00 p.m. with a valid driver’s license with a Virginia Beach address. Holiday parking is $10.00 at most municipal garages for non-residents.
Parking for disabled visitors and residents include 65 spaces in the municipal parking lots and garages, as well as alternate on-street spaces from 1st Street to 37th Street. Handicap accessible ramps are located at each beach access from 2nd Street through 80th Street, with extended ramps to the water at 8th, 17th, 24th, and 30th Streets.
