Whether you like to run, bike, swim, or do it all, there’s a little something for everyone. And now that school’s almost out, there are even a few options for kids on the calendar. St. Alphonsus Capitol Classic June 2 What better way to get that summer vacation started than to take part in this event? Celebrating 30 years of promoting youth fitness, this race is open to kids of all abilities, ages 6 to 14. The one-mile course starts at the Historic Boise Train Depot and ends at the State Capitol with a Finish Fair in Capitol Park. For more information, click on this link.
Ironman 70.3 June 9 Are you ready for a challenge? This is way more than your average weekend fun run. Swim 1.2 miles at Lucky Peak Reservoir, then bike 56 miles near Micron and end at S. Capitol Blvd. Finally, run 13.1 miles through downtown Boise, along the Boise Greenbelt and finish on 8th Street. For more information, click on this link.
I Run For Chocolate 5K/Half Marathon June 16 Brought to you by See Jane Run, this race starts at Julia Davis Park, Shelter #1. This event also includes a 1 mile kids’ run. For more information, click on this link.
Main Street Mile June 22 With proceeds going to prostate cancer education, awareness, and screenings, this annual event is a big hit in Boise. Start at the intersection of 6th and Main streets, and proceed on a one-mile course through downtown Boise. Children can do a half-mile course, led by the Meadow Gold ice cream truck. Barn Sour Run June 23 Choose from 6K, 10K or 1 Mile Fun Run distances. This 9th annual event benefits the Care Enough to Share program, which awards scholarships to low-income Meridian residents to participate in recreation programs. For more information, click on this link.
Ultimate Urban Challenge June 23 Benefiting Make-A-Wish Idaho, this unique bike race challenges the mind, body, and senses. Following clues, teams of four bike to a secret location and complete the assigned challenge. For more information, click on this link.
