From the day you were conceived, God had a plan already designed that contained the details of your life. He knew who your parents would be as well as the purpose he would place on your life. As you grew from a child into a teenager, you began to gain a different outlook on life. This new interpretation or view on life comes about due to the mental, physical, and spiritual growth that is taking place in your life, as well as your ability to adapt to your environment and learn from your experiences as you began your journey to discover yourself. Even though God has blessed you with a variation of individuals in your life to interact with, it is still up to you to determine the influence these individuals have in and on your life. It is also your objective to ensure that their purpose in your life is embraced and accepted within a Godly filled manner.
When I speak about purpose, I am addressing the question of why did God give you life, and I am acknowledging the idea that God has placed you in this life, and on this Earth when he did for a reason. By this time in your life, you may be aware that your main purpose in life is to glorify God, but there is another purpose that God has laid out for you as an individual. It is your objective to determine that purpose and follow the necessary actions to develop that purpose into reality. Many times the purpose is not always easy to determine, and it can take years for it to be revealed. There are also times when the purpose can be right in front of you, and you just don’t see it due to the ability to be blinded by ones own thoughts or emotions. This is an example of an individual creating their purpose and path of destiny instead of allowing for God to bring his masterpiece to life. The plans you may want for yourself are not always the plans that God has laid out for you, and that is why it is important to exercise your faith and seek God to lead you to your purpose so you won’t be misled or misinformed. As a teenager, you are going through stages in life that deal with you trying to determine exactly who you are as well as those qualities such as your characteristics that make you who you are. Those characteristics play a major role in the relationships you establish as well as the interest and hobbies you take part in. Your characteristics are an important part of your identity, they determine the way you respond to certain situations as well as the involvement you have in society. Your characteristics must be nurtured and properly fed so that they can develop and be used to strengthen your purpose in your life.
Once you reach the point of having God reveal to you your purpose, the best way to keep it nurtured so that it can develop into something greater is to exercise your use of it and study God’s word to better interpret your purpose. You can consider the nourishment of your purpose to be something like deciding you want to play the saxophone in the band with no knowledge of the instrument. In order to even be accepted into the band you have to learn the basics of reading music as well as basics of the instrument, and you have to put the two together to create something greater. The same thing applies to God’s purpose. You have to do those things that are necessary in order to function properly with meaning in your role of purpose. A good example of a purpose in regards to God’s ministries could be being called to be a Deacon. Your role as a Deacon can become greater through the nourishment of the position. A few ways to nourish the role as a Deacon is to learn about the position through the studying of God’s word, learning from other Deacons (making sure their actions align with the word of God), and actually being in the role as a Deacon and performing the duties the position calls for. Your purpose can only be as great as you develop it to be.
It may truly take time to determine just what your purpose in life is; it is important to wait patiently for God to reveal it to you. When he does reveal it, just trust and know that it will be right on time because he will have given you the tools you need to be able to function successfully in your role and be exactly who it is he has called for you to be!
