Christian Jensen’s latest erotic horror release, Amy Obeys is available now! Christian is here today to talk erotica, inspiration, and zombies, so get ready for things to to get steamy and scary.
What are three words to describe your writing?
Prolific, sexual, disturbing
Where did the inspiration for the series, ZOMBIES!…The Beginning of the END come from?
Honestly, every Zombie novel and movie I have ever put my hands on has inspired me in some way, which was something that scared me about writing one of my own. I didn’t want to write something similar to Brian Keene, Joe McKinnie, David Moody, Armand Rosamilia, or any of the other amazing writers out there. I wanted my book to be something totally different. I wanted it to be about the world after the apocalypse, with Zombies in it.
What was the hardest part of writing the ZOMBIES!…The Beginning of the END series?
Making it realistic. Not making the threat of Zombies real (oh, it’s real!) but making the actions and thoughts of the survivors real. I wanted real people with real backgrounds acting like they would if the world went to sh*t.
How would you define erotica?
Wow, great question. It’s not the text book definition of a story or novel with strong sexual elements, because that tells nothing. Real erotica, to me, is about pushing things to the limit. I want to make people think when they read my erotica. I want them to have an open mind. Even if they don’t like or haven’t tried something I am writing about, I want them to be able to close their eyes and experience it in a safe and exciting way.
A lot of my readers may have never tried any form of bondage, either out of fear or lack of opportunities. Maybe they tried it with the wrong person and felt uncomfortable. I want to put a scenario in front of them that is sexually charged, sensual, fun, and exciting.
Good erotica is about the fantasy; it’s about getting exactly what you want and having the outcome play out in just the right way.
What is your favorite piece of erotic art? It can be any medium you like.
Boris Vallejo – Eternal Moonlight. It is a painting he made for a movie called “The Church”, and even though it is kind of a simple piece, there is so much going on, so much detail and passion in it.
Is there a message behind Amy Obeys, and if so, what is it?
Haha, for that, you will have to read the book. The message is in the ending, the very last couple of pages.
What can we expect from Amy Obeys?
A lot of very intricate sex scenes. I went for the slow burn with a lot of them, drawing the reader in and giving them everything they need to be in the middle of the passion. Of course there is an incredible story being as well, where nothing, and no one, is what it seems. Oh, and my trademark horror elements. I don’t consider myself a Paranormal Romance Writer as much as a Horror Erotica Author. I want to scare people, turn them on, and make them think. Amy Obeys does just that to the tenth degree
What challenges/surprises did you encounter while writing Amy Obeys?
I didn’t write Amy Obeys, as much as take the dictation from the characters. It wasn’t a challenge as much as a surprise. You will read that book much as I wrote it, and trust me, I was just as surprised as you will be by the outcome of it.
How do you feed your inspiration and keep your creative muse happy?
I listen to her. I obey. She says jump and I ask how high. When she is tired I let her rest. When she needs stimulation I find it for her. When she is hungry I feed her. I am a slave to my muse, because without her I am nothing.
If you could trade places with one of your characters which would it be?
Whichever one is getting laid at any particular moment. LOL.
What does being brave mean to you?
Being true to yourself. Doing what you want instead of what is expected of you. I write in several genre’s because I love so many of them. I could just write erotica and make a damned good living, but I need to write horror. I could avoid romance because I am a man and men don’t write romance. I could do a lot of things that people expect from me, but I want to grow and progress as a writer at all costs, no matter what that means towards commercial success. Brave is just another word for truth, and I am always in search of the truth in my writing.
What are your plans for the rest of 2012 and beyond?
There are many more books already written and waiting, plus plans for a couple dozen more, maybe not in 2012, but not long after either. I also plan on attending a few conventions and getting out to meet my readers and potential readers.
I will be in Louisville, Kentuckyfor the FANDOMFEST convention from June 28th to July 1st, which I cannot wait for. After that, who knows?
