Cancer is a serious problem in our modern society for both pet and human. The incidence of cancer in Milwaukee is just as relevant as anywhere. This does not mean doom. There are documented cases of individuals both human and pets that have taken control of cancer to live long and fruitful lives.
A possible cause is the toxins that have been found in the blood of dogs, cats, and humans. Mercury, reproductive system disrupters and known carcinogens from industrial chemicals were prevalent per a study by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) as noted on the Baseline of Health Foundation website.
It continues that dogs and cats are found to have a predominantly higher rate of cancer than humans. This is because dogs put everything in their mouths plastic toys and cords and cats lick themselves after sitting on furniture. Another reason for the prevalence of these toxins is the “increase use of PBDEs (Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) is a common flame retardant) in consumer products over the past 30 years.” This study shows a parallel with the cancer incidents in our pets. This is not the only reason, pet beds, pet foods and flea collars add to the environment of our pets.
Some of the steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of cancer in your pets is to feed organic food, use organic pest control, keep toxic plastic toys away from your pets and choose your household furnishings with toxic free materials.
By reducing the toxicity of your home and the food you and your pets eat will greatly improve your health and reduce the risk of cancer for you and your pets.
