Zombie Burger + Drink Lab (300 East Grand Avenue, Des Moines) management made two announcements yesterday to all of their web followers. First, they announced the beers on tap and the specials for next Tuesday’s Tap Takeover. Second, they extended their t-shirt contest deadline.
Tuesday, June 3, Rogue takes over the Drink Lab taps. All twelve taps will be pouring Rogue products starting at 4 p.m., and representatives from the Oregon-based brewery will be on hand to answer questions and giveaway Rogue swag throughout the night. Here is a look at the beers/ales that Rogue will be pouring June 3 with descriptions provided by the brewery:
American Amber Ale (5.6%): Tawny in color with a coffee aroma, tight head, and a delicate roasted malt accent. Generous use of hops and a smooth finish.
Chatoe First Growth OREgasmic Ale (6.0%): Orange-amber in color, malty aroma, and spicy fruity hop flavor with solid malt background and lingering finish.
Capn Sig’s Northwestern Ale (6.25%): Deep red in color, this ale starts off with a floral, slightly citrus hop nose. Hop flavor soon fades into the malty backbone of this red ale.
Chipotle Ale (5.5%): Roasted chipotle peppers produce an eye opening chile flavor in this deep golden ale with a malty, smoky aroma and smooth, crisp flavor.
Chatoe First Growth Single Malt Ale (5.3%): Single Malt Ale has a malty aroma and is deep golden in color with a dense creamy head. It is medium-bodied with a lush, rich maltiness from the Dare malt.
Chocolate Stout (6.0%): Ebony in color with a rich creamy head. The mellow flavor of oats, chocolate malts, and real chocolate are balanced perfectly with the right amount of hops for a bitter-sweet finish.
Dry Hopped St Rogue Red (5.1%): Reddish-copper in color, a roasty-malty flavor, with a hoppy-spruce finish.
Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout (6.1%): Ebony in color with a rich creamy head, earthy flavor, and a mellow, chocolate finish.
Mom’s Half-E-Weizen (4.8%): The Mom Hefeweizen is a refreshing Belgian-style blonde ale, infused with rose petals from Eugene, Oregon.
Dad’s Little Helper Black IPA (7.0%): Dad’s Little Helper Black IPA is deep mahogany in color with roasted malt and hop aromas and dense creamy head. It enters the palate with intense hop flavor and coats the tongue with a rich maltiness.
Double Deadguy (9.0%): Deep amber-copper color. Buttery peanut brittle and orange blossom tea aromas follow through to a rich chewy and fruity full body with nice notes of caramel-drizzled dried apricot, roasted grains, and spice. Finishes with a long, tangy, grilled grapefruit and chocolate fade.
Brutal Bitter IPA (5.8%): An Imperial bitter with exotic traditional floor malts that has a citrusy, hoppy flavor, and a stupendous hop aroma.
Zombie Burger’s special for this Tuesday Tap Takeover will be their Undead Guy BBQ Burger (a burger patty with pulled bacon, Rogue Dead Guy Ale mustard sauce, bacon, and cheddar cheese). They will also feature a special Fourth of July shake: Apple Pie + Fireworks (a red, white, and blue shake, with apple pie, caramel, and hint of cheddar cheese).
Next month’s Tuesday Tap Takeover will feature beers from Founder’s Brewing Company in Grand Rapids, Michigan. For a complete schedule of Tuesday Tap Takeover breweries, click here.
